Donald A Thompson Garden Plots - Application

Fees have been adjusted for the 2025 season. 

Raised Accessible Plots: $0.57 per square feet (HST included).

Ground Level Plot: $0.28 per square foot (HST included).

Policy and Regulations

The garden plots are located at 633 Springbank Ave. Garden plots are approximately 10 ft x 10 ft in size. Garden plot rentals are one (1) plot per registered person.

• The opening date for the 2025 season has not yet been announced. 
• Garden plots must be cleared out completely of all vegetation, fencing, stakes and other materials by November 1st each year.  Remaining items will be forfeited and removed after November 1^st.
• The two-foot pathways between the garden plots are not to be used for planting.  Each gardener is responsible for keeping the pathway adjacent to their garden plot free of weeds.
• The community gardens area is fenced and gated.  Please keep the gate closed at all times.
• All garden tools, seeds and plants must be supplied by the gardener.
• All gardeners must keep their plots free of weeds.  Gardeners are not allowed to use chemical pesticides.  Only organic products may be used on your garden plot.
• The community gardens are located in a public park.  Pets are prohibited inside the community gardens area.  Off-leash pets are prohibited in any City Parks.
• Gardeners are asked to leave the area by sunset.

Garden Plot Allocation:

• Applicants with accessibility needs will be allocated first. 
• Garden plots will be offered to the previous year's occupant.
• Applications must be submited by March 1st, for the previous occupant to retain their their previous garden plot.
• Once a plot has become available, it will be offered to the waiting list.

Note: Rights to the community garden plots will be forfeited by those gardeners who do not abide by the above regulations.
